At the beginning of each year, I am challenged to pick a work and verse for that year. A word that I can focus on and study about through out the entire year. It’s a chance to see how God works in me and through me.
This year, my word is FAITH.
FAITH
Sees the Invisible.
Believes the Incredible.
Receives the Impossible.
First, I have Faith in God, my father and Jesus Christ. Even though I can’t see Him, I know that He is there. I have seen His handiwork and I have seen God’s miracles.
“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.” Hebrews 11:1 NLT
With Faith, I have no fear of the unknown.
“This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 NLT
We are made right by our faith.
“We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.” Romans 3:22 NLT
Faith brings joy.
1 “Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. 2 Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.
3 We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. 4 And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. 5 And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
6 When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. 7 Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. 8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. 9 And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. 10 For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. 11 So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.” Romans 5:1-11 NLT
I have faith in God to equip me and empower me to do His work here on earth.
“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10 NLT
Importantly, we share our faith through how we live our lives. 1 Timothy 4:12b is my verse for 2014. It reminds me that I need to live my life so that others see Jesus, not just by what I say, but how I live.
“Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12b.
That is my desire every day, to live out my faith in God so that others might come to know Jesus, seeing Him in me.
